11 July 2022 – last day to check address

Voting demonstrates your support for your union and participating in the democratic process is what keeps the Union strong. Who you choose to be your leaders also matters. You should choose the people that you think would be best in the job. You are putting the Union and its members in their hands for four years.
The ballot opens on August 10.
Your ballot must be in the hands of the returning officer by 10 am AEST on 7 September.
We have all experienced postal delays since the beginning of COVID, so it is important that you leave enough time for your vote to get back to the Returning Officer to be counted.
If you are not sure it will get back in time you can pop it in an Express Post envelope.
Your ballot must be in the hands of the returning officer by 10 am AEST on August 29.

Under special circumstances the Returning Office can extend the deadline to 10 am AEST on August 31 and we will update this if that happens.
The Union is required to have rules that specify how and how often union elections are undertaken, as well as the process for nominations, ballots, scrutineers and terms of office.
The Union must apply to the Registered Organisations Commission for approval for the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) to conduct an election. The AEC determines the timelines taking into account any dates in the NTEU Rules.
This is a postal ballot, meaning that you will receive a voting form and candidate statements in the mail usually to your home address.
The Fair Work Act requires that the AEC conduct postal ballots for all directly elected positions. This is not a choice of the Union.
You can contact either your local Branch of the NTEU or the NTEU National Office on National@nteu.org.au The list is sent to the AEC on July 11, so if you need to check or change your address do it with the NTEU before then. After that, contact the AEC.
Update: If you are reading this and have not received a ballot paper, contact the AEC now and ask for replacement ballot papers.
If you have not yet received a ballot at your home address you should call the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) on 03 9285 7111 to request a new ballot as soon as possible.
Leave a message with your name, phone number and a request for NTEU election ballot papers.
An AEC staff member will call you back to verify you are on the roll before sending replacement ballot papers.
When you do receive your ballot pack, follow the instructions carefully and return it in the provided envelopes to the AEC. It must back arrive at the AEC by 10am on 7 September, when voting closes, so allow plenty of time.
Yes, they did. Originally the ballot was due to commence on 3 August. In July the AEC notified that the ballot would be delayed by a week. The closing date was then extended again to 7 September at 10am.
Just kidding! Of course we think you should vote for the Strong United NTEU team of Alison, Damien and Gabe to be your national leaders for the next four years.
